FAQS
Yes! At The Missing Dragonfly we pride ourselves on the fact that we use paraffin free/non toxic materials to make all our candles. In our candles, we use 100% natural soy wax and cotton and paper blended wicks that are zinc and lead free!
Being a small business, we make and package all our orders by hand. However, with that being said, all orders are packaged and sent for shipment within one week of the order being placed. Additionally, due to COVID-19, there have been delivery delays country wide, which is why you may be experiencing delays on tracking and receiving your order. We recommend that you frequently track your order using the tracking link provided in your order confirmation email, and if there still isn’t any updates, feel free to contact us at themissingdragonfly@gmail.com and we’ll get to the bottom of it for you. We appreciate your ongoing patience.
Due to the nature of our products, we do not offer exchanges or returns on used candles. However, we are more than happy to replace products damaged during transit. To request a refund for an order damaged during shipment, please contact themissingdragonfly@gmail.com with proof of damages within 48 hours of receiving your order.
At this time we do not offer samples of our candle fragrances for purchase. However, we do offer variety packs, each with 5 2oz tin candles of varying fragrances, different from our 8oz candle options, if you are interested in trying out multiple scents. Feedback from reviews of our variety packs will weigh heavily on scents and designs featured in future 8oz candles!
Small beads or amounts of oil on the top of your candle are termed candle sweat and are a distinguishing characteristic of 100% natural soy wax. Soy wax is sensitive to temperature changes, which cause oil to separate from the wax, leaving small pools on the surface of candles. Sweating does not affect the quality of the candle and can be simply wiped away with a tissue. To reduce sweating in future burns, make sure to place your candle away from direct sunlight, drafts, and temperature fluctuating rooms.
Tunneling is the result of not burning your candle for a sufficient amount of time. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend that you burn your candle for a minimum of 2 hours, or until the entire top layer is liquid, and a maximum of 4 hours. Allowing your candle to burn for an optimal amount of time will increase the longevity of your candle and fragrance throw on future burns.
Bumps and texture on the surface of a candle after a burn are a characteristic of 100% soy wax. This characteristic is the result of an inconsistent cooling rate which is variable for all soy wax candles; some dry with uneven surfaces, some dry with completely even surfaces. The good news is that bumps and texture are just a sign that your candles are 100% natural and will not affect the performance of your candles.
Soot or smoke coming from your candle when it is burned is most likely caused by leftover soot on your wick from a previous burn. Don't worry, this is an easy fix! We recommend that you trim your wick after each burn, approximately ¼-⅛ of an inch in length. Doing so will not only reduce soot or smoke when burning your candle but will also help to avoid tunneling and increase the lifespan of your candle.
